Observed in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded to increase public awareness about the disease, promote early detection, support research and treatment efforts, and celebrate survivorship.

In the U.S., over 4.3 million women have a history of breast cancer, with 4 million being survivors thanks to advances in cancer treatment. However, for many families, the journey does not end in survivorship. Their battle with breast cancer becomes the final chapter of their lives.
For late-stage patients, the burden is more than physical; it casts a shadow on the entire family. Bills begin to pile up, from medical expenses to the cost of everyday living—rent, groceries, utilities... This overwhelming financial stress can prevent families from spending their last precious moments with their loved ones and creating final memories. This crucial aspect is often overlooked in traditional awareness campaigns, yet it profoundly affects the quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families.
This is where Project 4031 steps in.
Recognizing the unmet gap in patients’ emotional and spiritual needs, Project 4031 was founded in 2011 as a faith-based nonprofit committed to easing financial burdens and providing final dreams for terminally-ill patients in North Texas. In 2025, Project 4031 has assisted 11 breast cancer patients with rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and more!
We understand that any amount of help means one less thing for families to worry about, allowing them to focus on their loved ones. That’s why we provide direct financial assistance for essential needs, ensuring families continue to have access to food, electricity, and a stable home. We also help families accomplish final dreams, such as providing the humble opportunity to visit a family member, a simple wish often made difficult for terminally ill patients who rely on life-sustaining equipment and medicine.
Inspired by Isaiah 40:31, our mission is to empower terminally ill patients and ensure their departure from this earth is peaceful and carefree. We support people of all faiths, and for those who request, we walk alongside them in prayer.
This October, we celebrate the incredible strength of breast cancer survivors whose lives represent hope and progress. However, we’d also like to pause and honor the legacy of every brave soul whose fight ended too soon. At Project 4031, we stand ready to help families focus on love and memories, regardless of their financial situation. Your support allows us to continue this mission and lighten the burden for North Texas families on their darkest days.
