The bond between a brother and sister is something special, built on a lifetime of shared memories and inside jokes. Ronnie and Shonnie exemplify this bond. Generous with his resources and his affection, Ronnie was a musician who loved playing his guitar and riding his motorcycle with his friends. Facing a terminal illness, Ronnie wanted to be sure his final arrangements were taken care of so they wouldn’t be a burden for his sister Shonnie. Although he had pre-paid for his funeral expenses years ago, he was informed that there would be extra costs that had not yet been covered. At Project 4031, we spent time discussing the plan with the funeral home and were able to cover the unanticipated costs to ensure that Shonnie would not be responsible for them when the time comes.

Shonnie loves her brother’s caring nature and his willingness to give you the shirt off of his back. However, what is Shonnie’s favorite thing about her brother? His great sense of humor, “he can make a funny out of anything at any time, he’s hilarious!” She told a story about making his salad and asking what his favorite dressing was. His response: UN(dressing)! When asked how he would like to be remembered after he is gone, he responded, “in the past.” Ronnie knows how to keep his sister laughing even in the hard times.

Ronnie was grateful for the assistance Project 4031 was able to provide as Shonnie shared, “The Project gave him peace of mind more than anything. He was worried about his final burial expenses. He didn’t want to leave me with any of his bills. He can now rest assured that that has been taken care of. Thank you!”
