A Wrestling Dream Comes True

One of the great joys of working at Project 4031 is the opportunity to get to know people and to learn about their stories. Recently, we were introduced to Christopher. Chris was celebrating his 31st birthday, and his parents had a special treat planned: an outing to WWE Monday Night Raw in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born early with complications, Chris has lived his life with Cerebral Palsy and intractable
epilepsy. While this has limited his body, it has never limited his infectious smile or his adventurous spirit. He is blessed with a loving family that supports him in his favorite things. Whether it is gossiping with his Gma Shirley about sports and people, enjoying a non-alcoholic beer on the fishing pier with his mom and dad in Rockport on their visits to The Lighthouse Inn, or exploring new things and places with his sisters on family vacations, Chris’s family wants to make sure he experiences life.
Chris enjoys playing games on his Xbox and tablet, being at the beach, and celebrating holidays with family watching sports (Go, Cowboys!) and enjoying holiday meals. Chris’s mom describes him as a foodie, and even though he can’t eat as much as he used to, he still likes planning the meal. He enjoys karaoke, especially country music, and time spent with his sisters, brother-in-law, nephew, favorite aunt and cousins.

We knew that Chris loves wrestling, so we wanted to know: does he have a favorite wrestler? His favorite wrestler is Seth Freakin Rollins. Like Chris, Seth Freakin Rollins embodies the masculine energy of a new generation of wrestling. Also like Chris, who loves to shop, he is very extravagant and likes the finer things in life!
Chris’s birthday trip was not his first time to watch live wrestling. What the BOK Center offered was better seats and a better experience, but it is in Tulsa. Chris’s mom had purchased the tickets but asked if Project 4031 could help with gas and lodging. She was concerned that Chris gets tired more easily now and needs more medicine and DME than he used to. She said, “Staying at the hotel a few nights allowed us time to let him truly enjoy his experience and explore Tulsa and be able to rest before having to come back home. We are truly beyond grateful for Project 4031.” We loved the chance to wish this remarkable man a very Happy Birthday!
